Raising

Raising (garzatura) is used to bring out the nap from the yarn used to make the fabric. It is carried out either with metal raising machines, fitted with raising rollers covered in metal wire card clothing, or, in a more artisanal way, with teasel raising machines fitted with rollers dressed with natural teasels. It is a delicate and complex process that requires a skilled, attentive operator, able to assess the fabric’s response and adjust the machine’s parameters, since there is a risk of compromising the strength of the cloth.

The department is also equipped to carry out various mechanical finishing processes, including brushing, sable-effect finishing, boucle-effect finishing, sueding and shearing, which act on the surface and nap of the fabric to achieve different aesthetic and tactile effects.
