Energy from the sun, land that breathes

In 2025, at the Benna plant, we built a 2.1 MWp agrivoltaic system with storage, one of the most significant investments in the history of the Ferraris Group.

The Benna agrivoltaic system is part of an ongoing investment path in energy efficiency, begun 20 years ago, which includes the high-efficiency cogeneration plant, the replacement of lighting with LED technology, real-time consumption monitoring and, in Gaglianico, the complete renovation of an 11,000 m² roof (including asbestos removal and the installation of a 1.1 MWp photovoltaic system).

WHAT IT IS

An agrivoltaic system combines solar energy production with agricultural land use: the panels are mounted on ground-based structures that allow them to coexist with the activities on the land beneath. The land is not taken away — the energy is simply produced alongside it.

CONCRETE IMPACT

With this system, combined with the panels already installed on the roofs of both plants, we aim to eliminate scope 2 CO2 emissions linked to electricity purchased from the grid. A goal stated in the 2024 sustainability report, now a reality.

RENEWED TRUST

The agrivoltaic system was designed and built by Kennew, a company specialising in renewable energy and industrial energy retrofitting, with which the Ferraris Group had already collaborated on an earlier structural and energy retrofit of the Gaglianico production plant.
